Project Alzette: Scandinavian-Inspired Interior Renovation
For this full turnkey renovation, our client envisioned a Scandinavian-inspired interior — natural, calm and rooted in simplicity, while remaining deeply personal.
The brief was ambitious. Beyond establishing a cohesive design concept, the client wished to introduce a second bathroom, create a guest bedroom with integrated storage, design an en-suite for the principal bedroom and incorporate a dedicated entertainment and music room.
Reimagining the Layout
The original layout was far from practical. One bedroom opened directly onto the main living space, compromising privacy, and the property presented technical concerns, including unsafe electrical connections. Outdated vinyl flooring and decades-old wallpaper further underscored the need for a complete transformation.
Despite these challenges, we immediately recognised the architectural potential of the apartment.
We began by redesigning the floor plan to integrate the new rooms and specifications, improving circulation, privacy and overall spatial logic. Every dimension was carefully recalculated to optimise distribution and flow throughout the home.
Bespoke Storage & Architectural Detailing
Custom joinery played a central role in this project.
In the guest bedroom, we maximised every square metre by designing a built-in wardrobe that frames the bed, finished in Plaster Pink by Farrow & Ball — introducing warmth while maintaining softness within the Scandinavian palette.
In the principal bedroom, we developed a three-metre-high bespoke wardrobe featuring a concealed “secret” door that provides access to the en-suite bathroom. This architectural gesture enhances both functionality and visual continuity.
Additional built-in wardrobes with elongated oval mirrors were integrated to increase storage while maintaining elegance. In the bathrooms, recessed niches were incorporated to provide practical yet discreet storage solutions.
Material & Colour Direction
While the foundation remained Scandinavian in spirit, the client was clear about incorporating terracotta and green — colours they felt personally connected to. These tones were layered thoughtfully into the overall palette, balancing natural materials with subtle warmth.
Throughout the project, decoration and furnishings were selected by the client within the spatial framework and dimensions we developed, ensuring alignment between design intention and final execution.
The result is a home that feels structured yet organic — practical yet serene — where architecture and personal identity coexist harmoniously.
For privacy reasons, bedroom photography is not displayed at the client’s request.
